Living and Loving Beirut, Lebanon

Arriving in Beirut on a sweaty summer afternoon in July 2001, I noticed an ad in the local English-language newspaper The Daily Star: "Tech startup looking for English editor." I got in touch with the company called SportWiz and a couple of days later I was on my way back to Switzerland to pack a bigger bag for a longer stay in Lebanon. I ended up living in Achrafieh (the most attractive area of Beirut) for a year, and besides working for the SportWiz writing for the same paper I had discovered the job ad in.

Here is a selection of some of the writing I did back then. Most of it sadly is no longer online, so it may take me some time to either rewrite or scan some of them.
